Chapter Sixteen

"There's no way, you must have made some kind of mistake" I inform him but he immediately shakes his head, I know Martha has a mate but there is no way that I would. "I definitely have not made a mistake, you know the sparks you feel whenever we touch, that is the first and strongest indication that we're mates" he tells me which does make sense in my mind, I've said multiple times that I've never felt anything I'm feeling with Cody with anybody before "the night we first met, I looked into your eyes, me and my wolf both knew from that point on that you were mine" he tells me reaching up and cupping my cheek, my mind was still trying to process all of this information. "I know it's a lot to take in and it's gonna take some time," he tells me as my mind starts to replay what happened that night we met, with that terrifying wolf. "But I'm terrified of wolves, especially after what happened that night, I was very nearly ripped apart" I say my mind focusing on the image of the wolf standing over me, fear soon taking over my senses. "I will never let that happen again, as soon as I saw you laying there my need to protect you at all costs kicked in, I promise nothing is ever gonna happen to you now I'm here" he says while so many questions start to fill my head "if you have any questions, I will answer as many as you need" he says like he was reading my mind, wait can he do that? "How did you know what I was thinking, can you read my mind?" I ask shocked staring at him wide eyes, he lets out a little laugh shaking his head. "I could tell by the expression on your face, but yes once you're marked we will be able to know what the other one is thinking if you don't block me out" he says which also makes my eyes go wide, what in the heck?! "Oh and you said you were terrified of wolves, but you've already met mine, I was the wolf that you met in the woods while you were crying" he smiles which as you can probably tell, my eyes go wide from shock one again. "That was you?!" I exclaim while he just smiles nodding his head "I knew I knew your eyes, but wait was it your jacket I was wearing?" I ask which also makes him nod, now it's all starting to make sense! "It was freezing that night I didn't want you catching a cold, I wanted to put you to bed but your bedroom window was locked and I couldn't just walk through your house, so I waited with you until you started waking up" he explains which does explain why I was in the garden, but I still had a ton of questions. "How did you know I was your mate?" I ask looking up at him, he smiles taking my hand to sit us on the bed, we both sat at the end beside each other. "As I said it was the night of the raid, as this town has been calling it, at first I didn't know but now I know from Martha that you wasn't in town when it begun" he explains which was true, we were still at the lake place when it started, which feels like years ago when really it's only been 5 months. "I just helped Scott from being killed when this strong smell hits my nose, it was the best smell that I've ever smelt and I knew what it meant" he explains which reminds me of something I totally forgot, an amazing smell filled my nose when the wolf attack me! I blocked that part out of my memory due to still being traumatised by the whole experience. "I followed the smell until I came to a clearing and I saw you, you were staring up terrified at one of my wolfs but you turned and we locked eyes and that was it, I knew you were mine" he smiles placing a kiss on my hand. "What an amazing story to tell everyone, how did you meet? Oh she was nearly ripped apart by a wolf when our eyes met" I say all dreamy laughing a little, he lets out a laugh shaking his head "were you disappointed at all, knowing I'm human?" I ask looking over at him, he shakes his head looking taken back. I mean Scott doesn't seem to care about Martha being human, but Scott isn't the Alpha. The Alpha's mate becomes the Luna, it's her job to help run the pack and look after the Alpha. In my mind you'd want a strong wolf as yourself to do all that, but I'm still just a human. I know all this due to my research, not that I'm human because of course I know that, but you know what I mean. "Why would I ever be disappointed? I'm so happy and thankful that I have you as a mate, I would never trade you even for the strongest she-wolf out there" he says while taking my head in his hands "you are perfect, I would choose you over anybody" he tells me looking me in the eyes as he spoke, I smile placing a kiss on his lips as a thank you. I look out the window to see the sun was slowly starting to rise, what the heck? Is it morning already? I mean I have done a lot tonight, run through the woods to talk to Martha, make my amazing barricade, take a shower, let Cody in and eat a picnic, talk to my dad while finding out I'm Cody's mate. Woah this has been an eventful night. Like on cue a huge yawn escapes my lips, I guess this was the first time I've thought about it being nighttime. I look over at Cody who was just smiling at me, he had an expression of relief on his face, I guess he's been wanting to tell me about us being mates but couldn't yet. "So what's gonna happen?" I ask looking up at him, while my eyes wanted nothing more than to close and go to sleep. "We can take things as slow as you want, I would love you to come back to my-I mean our pack tonight, but I know that's something due to who your dad is, will be hard" he says as I lean my head against him the feeling of sleep really taking ahold, I wanted to stay up longer so I could talk more to Cody. He moves his arm to wrap around me, so now my head was laying on his chest my eyes slowly closing. "I wish I could too, but this town wouldn't let me and my dad would probably disown me for being mated to you" I say my eyes basically closed as I spoke, Cody tenses a little but soon stops. "Not if he doesn't know you're in the pack because you're mated to me, don't worry I have a plan" I hear him say before I drift to sleep, in the arms of my mate.
