Chapter Thirty-Four

I was at a lost for words staring at the girl, the story she was telling me just totally wiped me out. Since it happened, we've always wanted to have answers, I never thought they would be like this. Once her story was wrapped I hold my finger up telling her I needed a second, I turn with my hands on my hips just trying to process all the information I just heard. "You do believe me don't you Luna?" She asks worry clear in her voice, the story was so unbelievable but by the way she told it, I knew it was true. "Of course I believe you, now are you sure with no shadow of a doubt that it was Justin you saw?" I ask knowing if she got the wrong face, a innocent man was about to get hurt. "I'm sure, his face has been haunting my dreams and thoughts since it happened, I don't think I'm ever gonna forget it" she says beginning to cry, on instinct I go over wrapping her in a tight hug "I'm so sorry Luna, I know he's your friend but I couldn't keep it quiet anymore" she cries uncontrollably on my shoulder, I pull away so I could clearly see her face. "You have nothing to be sorry about, what happened wasn't your fault, I'm glad you told me because I definitely wouldn't want a friend who could do something like that" I say looking at her tears welling up in my own eyes as I spoke "you're gonna go home and I'm gonna sort all this out okay?" I ask as out the corner of my eye I see Cody walking over, Katy immediately gets more nervous and walks away, scurrying passed Cody and out the restricted area. I sigh taking a look at the floor than to Reece who was walking over, it was my turn to now explain the horrible story I've just been told. Cody was the first to reach me placing a hand on my shoulder, he wasn't in the same clothes he left with but I had more important things to worry about than that. "What was wrong with Katy, I know she's a nervous person but even there she seemed beside herself" Reece says now standing the opposite side to me, maybe being outside wasn't the best place to have this conversation. "Let's head back in the house, one it's freezing and two, you might not want anyone else to hear this" I say giving him a sad look before walking in the direction of the house, with every step I took, different ways to tell him fill my mind. As I walk up the steps I hear Martha and Scott shouting, well at least that's one thing off my mind. I make a b-line for the living room where I just pace, somehow I have to try and put into words what she just explained. Cody and Reece soon join me sending me worried looks, I probably wasn't acting like a sane person right now. "It's about Kayleigh" I say looking up at him with sad eyes, he looks taken back for a second taking a look at Cody than back at me. "What about Kayleigh?" He asks but deep down I think he knew, I sigh looking to the floor trying to find the words to tell him "Erika please, just tell me" he says which does stop me pacing and finally make eye contact with him, I'd been avoiding it at all costs. "Katy was with Kayleigh when it happened, she told me what happened and who did it" I say which he once again looks shocked but shakes it off, I knew I had to explain now "we all know how her day started, she had breakfast with us than went to meet a friend, that friend being Katy. She said the day was totally normal, Katy had a few errands she needed to run and Kayleigh was more than happy to join her. Just after lunch they had finished and Kayleigh wanted to go for a walk, she said she loved nature and wanted to take a walk through the woods. Katy knowing it was dangerous to go for a walk in the woods alone, she decided to join her" I explain pausing slightly so he had time to take in the normal part, this next part won't be nice to hear "the walk started off fine, the whole way they were chatting and Kayleigh was telling her how she loved living in town. Halfway into the walk, Katy notices this guy that was kind of lingering near them, she got a really bad feeling from this guy and told Kayleigh it might be a good idea to head back. But Kayleigh told her it was fine as she knew the guy from town, this calmed Katy's nerves a little but was still on guard. The guy walks up to them and starts chatting with Kayleigh, they talk about how the guys settling in and you" I say looking up and Reece, just by his face I knew he was racking his brain trying to figure out who I was talking about. "Things took a turn when the dude asks Kayleigh if she wants him to walk her home, Kayleigh refuses as she still wanted to spend the day with Katy as they don't get to see each other very much. The dude still persists and tries to get Katy to leave, Katy stood her ground and told him he wasn't leaving Kayleigh to walk home with a man that she personally had never met, the dude didn't take that well" I sigh knowing the next part of the story would be so hard to tell, I sigh but know I had to continue "the dude laughs a little before swinging a punch at Katy's face, this sends her flying and on the way down she smashes her head off a rock that knocks her clean out. When she woke up she found Kayleigh laying there, still alive but......half naked" I say looking down at the floor, we all knew what that meant. "She was still alive?" Reece asks holding his hand to his mouth, he had tears building in his eyes that he was trying to keep back. "Barely, she told Kayleigh she'd go get help and ran to the pack. When she arrived to town everyone was more focused on her and no one would listen when she said Kayleigh needed help, she tried to find you but wasn't allowed back to town. A few days later when she was allowed to leave she went back, but Kayleigh wasn't there. The guy must have moved her to where she was later found, I'm sorry Reece" I say tears rolling down my own cheeks, Reece turns for a second facing the wall. In this time, Cody walks over to me wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I wipe my tears away, there was no time for me to be upset about it all. Reece soon turns back around looking at me, I knew what the next question was. "Before I tell you who it was, you have to promise that you won't go to town and attack them now, we can't have you running into town causing a whole new war" I say knowing it was a big ask but he needed to smart about this, no more innocent people need to get hurt. "Erika, the man murdered my little sister, I'm gonna kill him" he says angrily but I just shake my head, that wasn't the answer I was looking for. "Than I'm not telling you, it's not just about you Reece, yeah I get that you're angry but you'd be putting a lot more people in danger" I say crossing my arms, I of course wanted to tell him but not if he was gonna take it out on the town. "Okay fine, I promise just please tell me" he said looking at me with sad eyes, I take a deep breath before saying. "Justin" As soon as that word left my lips he went off, his eyes turned black and terrifying. In a swift movement I was pulled behind Cody, who was telling Reece to calm down. "I'm going to rip that man limb from limb, he helped us look for her when really he knew all along, he isn't gonna see another day!" He growls bolting to the door, he said he wouldn't do it! "Cody you need to stop him" I say looking up at Cody, he nods placing a kiss on my head before bolting to the door. I stand in the living room just in floods of tears, Justin's a monster.
