Chapter Twenty-Seven

This was bad, my dad wasn't kidding when he said if any of the girls go back he'll kill them. It's not like the police guarding the place won't know who Martha is, that's all they were thinking about for weeks after the raid. Why would she even wanna go back? Last time I was at town even her family didn't want anything to do with her, is she doing this on purpose? A part of me was hoping if my dad did see her, he'd be a bit more lenient as it's Martha and I've known her since we were little. But than again my dads been after blood since the raid, to top it all off with what we've learnt about mum, it's not looking good. "I think it's best if I go to town to see if she's there" I say as I knew Scott was about to sprint to town, which was extremely fast might I add. "She's my mate Erika, I need to go get her now" he says not liking my suggestion, he goes to walk off but I grab him by the arm stopping him. "This isn't the time for you to act all caring, I swear if you go and attack that town again you will not like the pain I will inflict on you" I say looking him dead in the eyes as I spoke, I know I said it was a clean slate between him and me, but I wasn't gonna let him run and hurt the people I love and care about again. "She's your Luna Scott, whatever she says she wants to happen, is going to happen" Cody says from behind me, for a moment I forgot he was even standing there "we will all go to the border where Erika will do the talking, we'll just be there to protect her and hopefully retrieve Martha" Cody further explains which Scott doesn't seem to enjoy, but you could tell he had no choice but to go along with it. He went to speak again probably to argue, but I make sure to cut him off. "Okay time is of the essence, the longer you stand there arguing the more time they have to kill her" I say sick and tired of all his whining, if he really cares about Martha like he says he does, he wouldn't be standing there at all. He looks at me and immediately bolts towards the tree's, oh no he isn't! Before I knew it, Cody had taken ahold of me, shifted and was now running at full speed in wolf form through the trees. I hold on tightly to his fur as all the trees become a blur, in seconds I spot a second wolf running in the same direction as us. Now I'm only guessing but I think that's Scott, we somehow needed to come up with a plan to stop him. "Cody, I'm gonna jump off your back and you're gonna tackle him okay?" I ask knowing full well that I wasn't gonna get a reply, which was probably for the best because he would have told me no. Before he had the chance to, I leap from his back and land onto the woods floor. I roll for a second before finally stopping, as I look up I catch a glimpse of Cody tackling the wolf to the ground. My plan worked! I roll so I was now on my stomach where I have to spit bits of leaves from my mouth, how in the heck did they get in there?! I soon rise to my feet and run over to where I saw Cody do the tackling, quite swift tackling at that. As I make it over I see the two wolves battling it out on the floor, fear takes over my senses as I watch. This is just like the raid, but this time the wolves are fighting each other and not people! I take a step backwards my heart rate picking up from fear, I know it's really Cody and Scott but that's not what I'm seeing. All I'm seeing is two wolves fighting, my brain won't allow me to see otherwise. Cody's wolf seems to know this and snaps at Scott, they both freeze for a second which tells me they're mind linking. They soon both separate and go behind separate trees, in seconds Cody walks back out in shorts and no shirt. My eyes immediately go to his bare chest as he races over, maybe not the time Erika. "Are you okay, why did you jump off my back?" He asks looking me over for any injuries as I spot Scott appearing from a tree, also not wearing a shirt. "What did I tell you about running off into town?" I ask moving passed Cody and towards Scott, who I knew was about to sprint off into town once again. "My mate is in there" he growls pointing towards the location of town, I knew he was trying to be intimidating but it wasn't working. "And so is my family, if you so even try to go into that town and put my family in danger again, I will tell Cody to deal with you how some of those wolves did with the towns people" I say part of me thinking my Luna side came out, I'm never normally like this. "I will happily oblige"Cody says from behind me growling slightly, Scott was being a little disrespectful to his Alpha if I'm being honest. "I know it's Martha and you have a right to want to go and keep her safe, but we have to be smart about it due to what's been happening recently" I say calming myself down to have a civil conversation with him, I knew this wasn't really his fault he's acting this way but he still has to use his head. "What do you thinks gonna happen if you run in there? They aren't gonna give you Martha back if they had her anyway, you'll be putting not only yourself and Martha in danger, but the whole pack" I say just trying to drill it in his head how much of a bad idea this was "If you run in town guns blazing, they'll see that as a another attack and train eyes on the pack, now I know that's something as the Beta you don't want to happen, so please just let me do the talking and I promise we'll get her back" He looks at me for a second before his eyes go over to the town, I know if he did try to run towards town he wouldn't make it. I would make sure Cody took him down before he even got within a hair of the border, but that's something I didn't want to do. He reluctantly agrees and moves to stand behind me, I let a breath I was holding in relieved that it didn't take the wrong turn. I now begin to led our group to the border of the pack, I had such a bad feeling that something really horrible and wrong is happening. I can't put my finger on what or who it's with, but I can't shake the feeling. Obviously, I wouldn't say to Scott what I was feeling because we all know how he'll react, so I need to be on the lookout myself to work out where these feelings are coming from. The trees become thicker once again which tells me we're nearly there, the borders of the town and pack are deep within the woods. Like on cue I see the pack border guards, it was the same two I saw first when I needed to speak to Martha. As I take a look over at the town, I spot the annoying officer walking up and down, great how in the heck am I gonna get through to him?! He looks up mid walk and clocks us, we make eye contact where I could see a sense of fear take over his senses. He probably thinks me and him are gonna switch places and he'll have to come back in here, poor guy I wonder what they did to him. We soon arrive at the very edge of the border where I make sure not to step over, I know he'll want nothing more than to shoot me in revenge for what I did. "I'm not here to argue with you, I just need to talk to my dad" I tell him trying to be as polite as I could, I didn't need this situation to be blown more out of proportion than it has to be. "Ha, you should have thought about that before you joined their side" he laughs pointing towards Cody and Scott, well I guess this dude really can't act mature. "That wasn't a question, get a hold of her father or we'll have to give you a refresher on what happens when you disobey us" Scott growling voice mutters from behind me, this causes the officers eyes to go wide and immediately pull his walkie-talkie out. I turn to look at Scott with a smile, he sends me one back shaking his head before looking back at town. "Your dads on his way" is all the officer says while gulping, his shaking hands nearly drop the walkie-talkie onto the floor in the process. "See it wasn't that hard" Scott chimes in from behind me once again, he really doesn't like this dude. In the distance I see outlines of people running over, let's hope this can stay civil.
