Chapter 45
Third-Person POV
Quintin invited Elyana and her companions for a coffee break. He treated them to a famous coffee shop with cakes and drinks.
While they enjoyed the food and coffee, the stalker continued following them and updating his boss. He could see them talking and giggling, and Elyana chuckled with every joke Quintin would spill.
"Wait! I want to have pictures with you guys!" Quintin exclaimed in excitement, but the servants insisted because they were unprepared.
"Let me just take you and Miss Elyana's pictures, sir," Daldalita suggested. "You both look good together," she added, and their companions agreed by smiling while nodding their heads.
"Eww! No way! Don't pair with this nasty man," Elyana protested to make fun of Quintin, whose facial expression suddenly changed.
His smile faded along with the excitement he was feeling. He didn't have a picture with Elyana, and having one would be memorable enough for him, knowing how close they were.
"That's too much of you. Do I look awful? There are so many women begging to have me, and for you, I am just this nasty man?" Quintin pouted. He wasn't sad with what she said; he was already used to the kind of words Elyana was using toward him, and every offensive word coming from her was nothing but words to him.
He handed his phone to Daldalita. "Take the most perfect shot," he instructed her, and he suddenly pulled Elyana's chair closer to him.
"W-what are you doing?" Elyana asked and was about to stand, but Quintin stopped her.
"Just one picture, please?" he begged, pouting his lips and showing her his puffy, beautiful eyes like a child that no one would resist.
"You look stupid when you do that," Elyana teased.
"Closer, ma'am, and sir," Daldalita, who was already standing in front of them holding Quintin's phone, instructed the two.
Elyana was caught off guard when Quintin moved his face closer to her cheeks. Her instinct told her to face in a different direction, which she did before she could accidentally kiss him.
"Say cheese," Daldalita uttered, and Elyana, no matter how awkward she was at the moment, got magnetized and uttered it along with Quintin, who was smiling brightly before Daldalita could capture it.
"Oh, Em Gee! So cute," Daldalita commented while looking at what she captured, and their companions approached Daldalita to see for themselves.
They started teasing the two. At the same moment, the stalker sent his boss the latest update on what was happening, which made Lucas decide to book a flight to the country.
Quintin's eyes traveled. He tried to find the stalker, but he failed to see him.
Their companions went back to their seats. Daldalita handed back Quintin's phone when it suddenly started ringing. An unknown number was on the screen, making him frown because the number was unfamiliar to him.
However, looking at the three-digit numbers as area codes and country codes made him jump to the conclusion who owned the number. Quintin secretly smirked. He already knew who
"Wait for me here; I will just take this call," he excused himself.
Elyana, who was suddenly self-skeptical, followed Quintin by looking at him while walking out of the coffee shop until he settled in one place before putting his phone next to his ear.
"Hey, Wilhelm! Did you already miss me?" Quintin teasingly uttered on the phone.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, Generoso?" Lucas exclaimed. The smirk on Quintin's face grew wider as he recognized the angry voice and confirmed his guess.
"What do you mean? What did I do this time?" Quintin innocently asked on the phone.
"Stop acting like you don't know anything!" Lucas furiously uttered, but Quintin maintained his composure.
Elyana was far enough away not to hear what Quintin was saying, but enough for her to see his facial reactions and a little of his lip movements.
"I think you're the one who needs to answer your question, Wilhelms. What do you think you're doing? Why are you stalking your ex-wife? Do you think you don't look like a freak for doing that, huh?"
Lucas couldn't answer any of Quintin's questions. He was dumbfounded when he heard from Quintin that he knew he had been following Elyana.
"Don't be shocked at how I found out, but if you're curious—your dog is too stupid—that's why, and I'm sure Elyana would find out about this soon," Quintin continued.
Hearing that instantly made Lucas panic.
"N-no, don't tell—" he begged.
"What do you need from her?" Quintin interrupted him, but Lucas couldn't answer right away. "Planning to hurt her? To take revenge? You're so pathetic to blame your misery on her, even though she doesn't even do anything with whatever you're into now," Quintin continued, raising his voice out of annoyance to the man on the other line.
If only Lucas had been in front of him at that time, he would have already given him a blow in the face.
"N-No! I don't have any intention to hurt her. Where did you get that idea, Generoso?" Lucas defended himself.
"Knowing you and your tricks? I don't believe you!"
"I'm not as stupid as you think. I won't hurt someone I care about—"
"Care about who? You only care about your ass Wilhems! Can you even hear yourself? You're just one piece of a selfish bastard! If you care about her, you should stop following her. Give her peace and let her heal because she doesn't need you anymore," Quintin yelled.
He exploded with anger and the people around him were stunned by his loudness. They could hear his words and some started whispering at each other, but Quintin didn't care even a bit about their existence.
Elyana noticed people outside were starting to look at him. She could also see through Quintin from the glass wall of the coffee shop. His facial expression and jaw moved to tell her that Quintin was in the middle of a heated argument.
Lucas, who was still on the other line sighed before continuing. "I regret what I did to my wife, Generoso." His voice was low. Quintin felt regret and pain from every word, but his anger was greater to believe whatever sorrow the man from the other line was feeling.
'Compared to what he had caused Elyana, that was nothing. You deserve every tiny piece of it,' Quintin thought.
"She's not your wife anymore," Quintin reminded him, but the other person didn't seem to hear anything and just continued with what he wanted to say.
"I want her back. I want my wife back," Lucas uttered.
Quintin chuckled. "W-what? What did you say? You want her back?" he asked while laughing. "Oh, man! Haha! Do you think it would be that simple? Do you think she still wants to go back to you?" Quintin teasingly asked after composing himself a little.
He thought that conversation was all just a joke—a waste of time that was why he thought of ending it on that point, but before he did so, he left him with one word, and that for a minute, Lucas contemplated. "Stupid."
After their conversation disconnected, Quintin pressed another button on his phone screen. He ended the phone recording that was currently ongoing.
Quintin sent it to Elyana's best friend.
"Want her back? Really? As if Elyana would!" Felicity exclaimed after listening to it. He felt his temple twitching and pressed it with his middle finger and gently gave it a massage. He closed his eyes for a moment while doing so and waiting for the twitching to surpass.
"So pathetic!" He couldn't help it anymore. He screamed out of nowhere because of so much annoyance.
It was loud for his secretary to hear outside her desk and she immediately ran to the matchmaker's door to check what was going on.
"B-Boss?" she called him. She stayed at the doorstep, afraid to enter after seeing the look on her boss's face.
Felicity growled as he brushed both hands on his face. "Stupid!" he shouted a second time, and the secretary who was watching him from the slightly opened door was startled.
He leaned his back on the chair. It was evident in his demeanor and expression how much he was irritable.
"A-are you alright, boss?" his secretary asked even how nervous she was.
Felicity turned his head to the direction of the door as quickly as he could, raising an eyebrow, but he saw how frightened his secretary was while peeping into the slightly opened door, he lowered his eyebrow and let out a heavy breath to calm himself.
"I'm okay," he answered, even though it was a lie.
He adjusted his seat, took a folder on his table and he pretended he was reading something. "Please close the door," he nicely ordered her and her secretary slowly closed the door.
Felicity tried to go back to work, but his mind was bothering him so much. Reading, but whatever he tried to understand what was written on every page, but nothing sinking into his head.
He decided to call it a day and packed his things. It was already lunchtime and I went back in the afternoon.
Felicity decided to have lunch at the Begums' mansion and just as he arrived, the family van that Elyana and the others used was just about to enter the premises.
He waited for them. The van stopped right in front of the front door of the mansion and one by one they went out. The servants inside the mansion arrived to help unload the things Elyana bought.
From plastic bags to countless boxes.
"That's a lot!" Felicity commented while watching everyone.
Elyana heard him. After giving everyone instructions to the servants, she approached him.
"It's not even enough. There are things I still need to buy," she replied as she walked closer to her best friend.
"By the way, I saw Quintin at the mall today. It was a huge surprise to see him there. Can you believe that that playboy could go to such a place to buy groceries?" she exclaimed.
"R-really? Well, that's quite shocking, huh!" The matchmaker tried his best to pretend he was surprised by what he heard.
"Yeah, it was! You won't believe what he bought!"
"What?" Felicity asked. This time, he wasn't pretending anymore because he didn't truly know what kind of things Quintin bought.
"He had soaps, condiments…some Christmas decorations like socks, and a wreath. There were more. He told us he was there to only buy a few things, but he ended up loading and filling his cart," she answered. Elyana suddenly laughed and Felicity had no choice but to laugh along.
"It's impressive that he could do such a thing with his status and it could ruin his image."
"He made me wonder the same. Although this day he was acting strangely." Elyana wanted to add, 'Just like you,' with what she uttered, but she changed her mind.
"What do you mean by that, girl? Quintin is naturally weird and unpredictable."
"I know that, but he was sweet and laughing with us and suddenly, he went berserk while talking to someone on the phone when he excused himself," Elyana explained.
Felicity got nervous. His concern was all on Elyana because if she heard and found out her ex-husband was the person Quintin was arguing with, he feared that something bad would happen.
Elyana, for certain, would start worrying again.
"Who could be it? Did you hear anything from him about it?" Felicity asked to know if she already had a clue on who it was so they knew what step to take.
