Chapter 78
Third-person's POV
Felicity decided to keep the truth and go back to his life. Quintin followed what was written in the contract; he minimized the communication between him and Elyana. It was not that hard for him because he became busier handling their business after he went to the event.
Everything was great for Felicity already, yet Elyana was the one who couldn't just let her best friend avoid her again. Elyana became tireless. She would go to Felicity's office whenever she wanted to see him and would go back and forth to Martincu's house to hang out with Lea and Eugene. Mostly, their topic was babysitting, which Felicity would secretly listen to when they did.
Elyana could not hide her excitement to learn new things from the two. Unlike before, she avoided them. Eugene also wanted Elyana to be at their house because she was able to ensure that Elyana and her grandchild in Elyana's womb were fine.
At first, Felicity was annoyed at how she became clingy to him. She wanted to see him often and be around him. Many of them were saying that Felicity might be the one Elyana craved during her pregnancy, yet the matchmaker couldn't just kick her away or tell her to stop following him everywhere because of his mother's order.
Months passed for everyone, and on the fifth month of Elyana's pregnancy, Felicity planned a big gender reveal in a private resort for her. Courtesy of Dr. Chelsea, who tipped the gender of the baby.
Felicity called Quintin the day before to inform him about it, but he said, "Even though I want to attend, I can't. It was stated in the contract that I should stay away from anything related to the child."
"But no one else knew about that, only you and Elyana. From what we both know, she didn't tell anyone that she knew her donor so you are safe."
"Yeah, maybe I am safe, but we already agreed upon that. I don't want to break that contract. I will just send some gifts. What is the gender anyway?"
"You don't have to buy gifts now. Just send those to her baby shower," Felicity replied.
"I know about that, but at least let me give something. Not for the baby, but for Ellie," Quintin insisted.
"Then buy something for her."
"Hmm…that's a good idea. I know a friend selling maternity stuff," he uttered after thinking about what Felicity said. "And when are you planning to tell her?" continued.
Felicity immediately lost words when Quintin asked that. He already let a few months get wasted, and he still didn't think of when he would be telling Elyana the truth.
"You know, this won't be like this if you already told her what you did," Quintin went on. His voice sounded more serious by this time. The blame was there because he wanted to attend the gender reveal, but because of the contract, he couldn't even witness that special moment in the life of his friend.
If Elyana already knew by then, that would void the contract, and they could go back to seeing each other. There would be no more issues, even if he stayed around often and helped her around.
"What?" Quintin exclaimed when Felicity was left silent for a long time on the other line.
"I-I don't know when," Felicity answered, stuttering.
"You fool! You must tell her soon! Don't wait for her to give birth first. You know, if you can't, I will do it for you. Elyana is just one call away and I know—"
"Don't you dare do that," Felicity warned Quintin.
"What if I did?" Quintin asked. It was evident in his voice that he would because he could, however, Felicity believed he was way smarter.
"I still have what you need. You are still my client, and your future is in my hands," Felicity stated.
Quintin grinned out of disbelief. He didn't expect he would use that on him, but he also had resources. The only problem was, he didn't have more time during that time because of their business.
"Fine! I will let you do it, but I can't promise you that I won't if I get truly annoyed by you," Quintin said, still leaving Felicity a warning.
The call ended after Quintin's secretary walked inside the office. Felicity continued dialing people's numbers to tell them about the surprise gender reveal.
Felicity only called their closest friends and family. He already informed Elyana's parents ahead of time because they were the only people abroad. He rented a private resort for that day. The food and decorations were prepared by a well-known catering service in town, turning the place into a fantasy place after Felicity chose a fairytale theme.
On the next day, all the servants at the mansion prepared early. Only a few of them were in the mansion so that Elyana wouldn't be too suspicious once she noticed all of their servants were missing.
The plan was to make Elyana think they were only going to the clinic, but they weren't.
"Why are you taking a different route?" Elyana asked the driver when they were on their way there.
"There's road work on the main road, Miss Elyana, and this is the faster route compared to the others," the driver lied.
"I see," Elyana uttered, and she didn't ask anything else after.
Elyana didn't know that her parents would go home.
Everyone had beautiful smiles on their faces, betting on the gender they were expecting.
So many were voting that it was a girl because most of the visitors were girls, and those who guessed boys were those boys that were only a few at that time. Just Cihan, Carlos, and Felix.
"Are you guys and girls ready?" Lea asked while holding a button she was about to give to Elyana.
"Yes, we are!" they yelled in answer, and Lea handed the button to the mommy-to-be.
All the servants were there, cheering and screaming for their bets. Felix was holding a remote to control the drone, which carries a box of colored powder that would eventually fall once Elyana pressed the button.
The cheers were getting louder. Felix turned on the drone and let it fly above them. Everyone followed the flying drone, raising their heads to see what color it would be.
Lea started counting down from ten. Everyone followed through, but Felicity remained standing next to Elyana silently while looking up too.
He already knew the gender, but he had to shut his mouth because he didn't want to ruin the day. When the countdown went to one, Elyana pressed the button. A blue-colored powder fell in mid-air and Cihan, who didn't know where he would put his happiness, suddenly jumped out for joy.
"I knew it! I told you, hon! It is going to be a boy!" he said. He couldn't believe he could guess it right, but he had a strong feeling he could have a grandson.
So many were disappointed, but that didn't take too long. The party went on, and everyone who attended enjoyed it. The servants spent their time dipping into the pool. Away from work for a day.
However, while most of them were enjoying themselves, Felicity was in the corner. He seemed to be listening to his mother talking to Elyana's parents about activities they had been doing together in recent days, but his mind was somewhere else.
He was silently praying that the child wouldn't turn out to be like him because he would surely experience the taunts of people around them. Those with narrow minds and unreasonable judgments would only hurt his son. Something he didn't want to happen to him once he grew up.
After the party at the resort, Elyana's parents prepared another one at the mansion. The whole Martincu family was there to share the food that was delivered from a famous restaurant in the city.
"I want to meet the father of your baby, my princess." Felicity almost choked on the food he was chewing when he heard Cihan say this. Eugene, who was sitting next to his matchmaker son, was the first to notice, and she handed him a glass of water. She secretly patted his son's thigh to tell him to calm down.
It was too obvious with the way he reacted to how nervous he was, and after he drank some water, his eyes traveled to check if anyone else noticed he got choked when Cihan opened up about the child's father. However, at this moment, Felicity was not the only one getting jittery.
"D-Dad, I thought we'd already talked about that," Elyana answered, stuttering because of that unexpected question from her father.
"Yeah, I know. But I would still want to meet him," the gentleman said with a serious expression on his face, making Felicity even more nervous as he was sitting next to Elyana's seat.
Elyana felt some fear and this was something her father felt immediately. "Are you afraid I might do something with him?"
"Hon..." Marietta tried to stop her husband, yet the man glanced at his wife, smiling at her to show her that he had no intentions of harming anyone.
"It is okay, honey. I am not saying this to hurt that person; instead, I want to thank him for giving our princess a reason to be happy." Cihan's eyes welled up with tears.
His shallow tears were the culprit. His daughter's genuine smile during the gender reveal moved him deeply. He could not just express how much he appreciated everything good that was happening to her daughter after all the storms she went through with her failed marriage.
He turned around to hide those tears. Marietta leaned closer to him to hand him a table napkin to dry those tears. She also took his free hand to hold and squeeze it. Cihan quickly wiped away his tears. Elyana stood up from her seat after witnessing that. She approached her loving father to hug him.
She couldn't contain her tears as well. It just fell, joining her father. Felicity, who was watching at this time, got rid of the fear that first woke up in his chest because of the last thing she heard from the gentleman.
He assumed it was anger after forgetting that Cihan was not his father. Despite his large build and height, Cihan has the softest heart. The fatherly figure he never had. A smile formed on his lips as he watched the two laugh and allow tears to fall from their eyes. That moment became both emotional and comical when the father and daughter made fun of each other.
The fear inside his heart while keeping the truth decreased as he watched how supportive and understanding Begum was, but he still didn't know how he would do it. Because as the months went on, it also became harder and harder for him to confess it to Elyana.
Felicity let out a heavy sigh. 'God, help me,' he silently prayed.
Before the night ended. Everyone gathered in the living room to show off the gifts they bought for Elyana. There were tons of them and Quintin made it by sending a huge paper bag full of cute maternity dresses. She was not expecting anything from him, and she had considered asking about those gifts, but when she saw the card inside the paper bag, she changed her mind.
She was smiling as she read it. Marietta and Cihan saw that and they oddly glanced at each other.
