Chapter 63
Felicity's POV
"Not our day today, it seems," I heard Quintin say. He was dismayed by the sound of it, but because I still didn't know what we were supposed to do in that place, I couldn't agree with what he meant.
"Why did you even take me to this place? And what are these women?" I asked Quintin as I continued looking at the countless women looking at me with a desire to take something from me.
I didn't like how they stared at me. It was beyond uncomfortable and it creeped me out so much.
I turned to Quintin and asked, "Can we leave now? I don't like this place."
"Okay, let's go," he immediately told me and walked away. I chased him and the women around me waved goodbye to us. Their shrill voices sent chills, pushing me to hurry on my pace.
"Do you know where Elyana is now?" We were out of the room when he asked me this.
"She's actually at home right now," I answered with a little relief that we were finally out of the room where we went.
"Home? At their mansion or your house?"
"At ours—my mother's house," I replied.
"Oh!" He halted. "Is that the reason why you went out today? You even used me as an excuse." He was turning his head slowly in my direction while speaking like there was a light bulb up above his head at that time.
That took me by surprise because that was the exact reason.
"I knew it!" He exclaimed when he didn't hear a word from me.
"Why are you looking for her anyway?" I changed the topic. He caught me off guard with his n-point conclusion, but I felt that even though I didn't explain, it seemed Quintin already knew.
I couldn't believe he was that smart.
"Let's go there," he uttered and he started walking again.
"Hey! What did you say? I mean, why are we going there?" I asked, chasing him.
"Why do you have so many questions? I already told you I would help you, right?" Quintin complained. He seemed irritated by the sound of his voice, but I needed to know why we had to see Elyana.
"Can you just stop for a second?" I pulled his arm, making him completely stop walking. "Thank you for wanting to help me but let me know what kind of help it is first. I have a feeling that it's not good and I won't like it in the end so let me know what plan you have in mind first and foremost," I continued.
Quintin gasped. "I thought you knew what it was. I even asked you if you had tried—"
My eyes widened. "Wait! You mean to sleep with—some random lady—those girls inside?" I asked nervously, interrupting him.
"Well, yeah. That was the reason why I brought you here."
My knees trembled. I couldn't believe his reason. I felt dumb that day for not instantly getting what he meant about the help. He was right; I should have known because he asked me first if I already tried, but my goodness!
I appreciated it—however, that was not the kind of help I wanted.
"You need to face her and talk about those things you told me about. You know—" he uttered, intentionally leaving his advice that way and making me clueless.
When I asked him to clear it out, he ignored my question. "I need to go now; my nephews are waiting for me," he told me instead and I had no choice but to let him go.
We went our separate ways when we got out of the secret casino and because I was hungry and I knew there were so many foods my mother cooked that day, I decided to go back to my mother's place, hoping Elyana had already left that time.
I came home with a grumbling stomach. It was past two o'clock in the afternoon and they were done eating lunch.
The visitors were still there, but everyone was in the garden. I took that chance to sneak into the kitchen to find something to eat. The two maids were there, washing the dishes. They wanted to take care of me but I stopped them and told them to continue what they were doing.
I took a slice of lasagna and put it on a saucer. I stood while eating at the corner, making sure no one in the garden could notice me, but I was wrong.
My twin brother saw me. I was stunned when he suddenly tapped me on the shoulder. "Why are you eating there?" he asked. "Everyone is outside," he added and he pointed to the garden.
I really had a sweet twin brother; his bride-to-be was so lucky to have a man like him. He might only look grumpy, but he was a caring and loving type of man.
"I'm fine here. I'm just tasting Mom's lasagna. I will also be leaving soon," I lied, hoping he would bite it.
"Why just that? There's a lot of food Mom cooked. Eat a lot, you silly," he told me and he opened the fridge to get cold bottled water.
"You're here, Bakla! I thought you wouldn't be coming back, just like Felix told me!" My jaw almost dropped when a familiar, loud voice came entering the garden door.
I nearly choked on the lasagna I was eating because of her.
"Here, water!" My brother handed me the glass of cold water he just poured.
I immediately took it and drank it slowly. I thought it was already Elyana who saw me right after she called me Bakla.
"That's mine," I heard Pretzel protest while watching me drink the water Felix supposedly poured into the glass for her.
My throat was clear as I looked at her. She was looking at me with her long snout.
"Sorry if I drank your water; it was your fault anyway. You stunned me," I told her with blame. "Here, you can have it," I added as I handed her the glass of water that I had already drunk.
"I don't want that anymore; my son might become gay," she murmured.
I heard what she said loud and clear, but my brain was slowly processing.
"W-wait, what?" I exclaimed, stammering when I realized she said son.
I caught Felix giving Pretzel a strange stare. Something that woke up my curiosity.
"A-are you pregnant?" My eyes widened.
Their eldest was less than a year old. She gave birth on the day my brother attempted to propose to her and their wedding was in February.
They didn't seem to be in a hurry, didn't they? Two immediately. They were both old anyway; they should hurry if they want a big family and who would have thought that what used to be like a dog and a cat is like a leech and can hardly be separated now?
"Shh! Keep your voice low. We haven't told anyone else yet. So don't be noisy," Pretzel told me, looking at the two maids, who didn't seem to care about us because they were busy and the sink was a little far from where the three of us were standing.
"OMG—I'm happy for the two of you." I had no choice but to keep my voice low.
The two were also products of my work. I matched them. It only happened that there was a huge plot twist in their story, which was not even expected.
"Come with us; they are waiting for you outside," Felix told me.
"I will; I will just finish my food," I replied, even though I had no plans on going out.
As the two walked back to the garden, I noticed my twin brother holding Pretzel's hand. They looked good together. I could see how happy they were with each other.
My gaze was fixed on them when Elyana unexpectedly appeared, and when our gazes met, I froze.
