Chapter 60
Felicity's POV
Christmas day, and I expected visitors to arrive, but when I heard who the guests my mother was expecting, I immediately thought of leaving as soon as possible. Elyana and her parents would be coming, and whether you believe it or not, I felt so ashamed to face her.
It all started when I entered the clinic and saw something I was not supposed to see. I was suddenly perplexed about how I had felt that day.
It was terrifying—not frightening in the sense that I wanted to scream, but there was something about it that made me feel like I had a fever, and it spread to my head before I passed out.
There were thoughts in my head that made me feel extremely uncomfortable, to the point where I questioned who I truly am, and seeing Elyana brings me back to that same emotion.
I knew it was strange, but I was disturbed by what was going on with me. That was why I decided to return to my condominium. I did not tell Elyana the real reason because I was afraid of what she would say. I could also feel that
I cannot think of anything to go to. I considered going to work, but I will need my secretary. I do not want her to go to work, especially since it is Christmas and that girl might not like it.
Who would like it if your boss asked you to work during the holidays anyway?
'Think, Felicity, think!' I whispered to myself as I paced around my room. I need to do something or go somewhere so I have an excuse to leave, because, knowing my mother, she would undoubtedly not allow me to leave without a valid reason.
I thought of something I could disrupt. Someone quickly came to mind. It was unclear at the time whether he had returned home or if he was still in Spain; however, I still dialed his number to find out where he was that day.
His phone was ringing, but he was not answering. I tried calling his number again right after the first ended, yet when it seemed the second wouldn't be picked up as well, I thought of pressing the cancel button on my phone screen; however, the call suddenly connected—Quintin answered it.
"H-hello?" From the tone of his voice, it appeared that he had just awoken.
"Are you already home?" I asked him immediately. I no longer bothered myself with greetings because it was only a waste of time.
"Y-yes, I am home. Just last night—"
"Okay, good!" I interrupted. "I have a plan for your request," I said, settling into the single chair in my room with excitement.
"Plan? What plan?" Quintin asked, confused about what I was referring to at that time.
"Hey! Just plan! If you don't plan on going anywhere today, let's meet somewhere so I can discuss everything with you while I have free time," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Now? As in today? Not tomorrow or the day after?" My eyes almost turned into a Ferris wheel when it spun because of him. So many questions.
"Yes, now! Not today or the day after!" I intentionally made my voice louder for him to hear it.
"But—why now? Don't you have any plans today? It's Christmas, for Pete's sake," Quintin said in a silent protest.
"So, you are saying you do not want to meet me today? It is as if you are the only one making it easy for me; now that I am free to discuss the plan and set the date, you don't want?" I paused and continued. "Okay, I am easy to talk to."
"Hey! Wait!" I was about to press the end call button when he shouted on the other end of the line. I even heard something crash in the background.
The feedback was loud and it seemed his cellular phone was the one that fell and crashed.
"Oh, sh*t!" I heard him cuss.
"I will get up now and get ready. Where are we going to meet?" he uttered when the feedback went away.
I almost burst out laughing at that point. When I pretended not to make it up to him the next time, he suddenly panicked.
"Meet me at the Italian restaurant near my office," I answered with a grin.
"Alright, I will be there," he replied and I ended the call.
My grin softened and became a smile. My plan was successful and I had a valid reason to leave because I have a client to meet.
I quickly prepared and left my room. I hurried down the stairs before the guests arrived and saw me leave. I took a deep breath before entering the kitchen, where my mother was preparing the meal.
I needed to act. I needed to look like I was in a hurry to meet the big client for her to believe me.
"Mother Earth, I need to go somewhere important!" I exclaimed loudly as I noticed her standing in front of the stove.
"And where are you going, Felipe?" I heard my twin brother behind me asking this.
When I turned around to face him, I saw his judging eyes piercing me. His eyebrows met like he could sense what I was about to do and I silently hoped he wouldn't try putting me in trouble.
I swallowed. "I need to meet a client. He only has free time today so I need to adjust my schedule a bit for him," I answered.
"Why now? Why didn't you adjust it in the afternoon? We have visitors this morning and it would be nice if all of us would be here today." I turned to my mother this time. I saw her short, curly hair looking messy and I thought of fixing it for her so it wouldn't look like her hair had gone through a storm.
"Unfortunately, mother, no," I answered while fixing madam's hair. I heard her sigh while I stood behind her.
"As if I can't stop you, right?" she uttered and that instantly put a smile on my face because that meant she would let me leave.
I caught Felix looking at me strangely; that was why I removed that smile from my face right away. "Thank you, Mom," I said, embracing her behind.
