Chapter 69
Third-person's POV
When Elyana pressed the red button on her cellular phone, the call to Quintin's phone remained ongoing. Felicity was on the other line, listening to the conversation between the two, quietly thinking and feeling guilty about what he did without his best friend's consent.
The rustling and strange noises that Elyana heard came from Felicity's side. Fortunately, she was not too curious about it and didn't ask so much. They would have been interrupted by chance if she found out the call was a conference call and it was him who was eavesdropping.
"You must have heard everything," Quintin uttered when Elyana was no longer in the other line.
"Obvious enough," he said sarcastically to hide what he felt at that time.
The matchmaker sighed. He knew it would make her extremely mad once she found out and that scared him so much.
…
As the days walked by, Elyana always checked herself in the mirror. Checking any chances in her body that could be a sign she would become a mother.
That was how excited she was. Each passing day made her excited and on the day of her return to the clinic to find out the result, her nervousness was up above the sky while waiting for her turn to see her doctor.
Doctor Chelsea asked her to return after a week, but because she got busy with parties her parents attended that she was asked to come to, she only managed to return to the clinic after eleven days.
He went alone again, wearing an outfit that anyone in the mansion would suspect of where she was about to go. Her parents went back to Turkey on this day, which was why she was free to go anywhere she wanted.
Quintin was the only one she informed about the checkup, but she didn't ask him to come. It was in the contract they signed that Quintin shouldn't get involved in anything regarding the baby if it was already inside her womb.
"Miss Elyana," the nurse called her in the waiting area.
Elyana raised her head and immediately answered. "Y-yes?"
"You can come in now," she announced politely and Elyana quickly stood to follow the woman inside a room where Doctor Chelsea was already waiting for her.
"How are you feeling today?" the doctor asked her when she got near.
"I'm good," she replied with a smile and Chelsea smiled back at her more brightly.
Elyana underwent a urine test. Doctor Chelsea already knew the result. She went inside that room to have an ultrasound and the surprise was there to unfold.
"Look at this," the doctor said, pointing to something on the monitor that was as small as a bean seed.
Elyana frowned. She had no clue what it was, but as seconds passed, she started to feel her eyes getting hot and teary.
"I-is that m-my baby?" she stuttered. Elyana's lips parted and her eyes widened as she fixed her eyes on the tiny living being that she could not believe she already had inside her womb.
"Yes, that tiny little miracle. That is your baby," Chelsea answered while looking at the monitor.
It wasn't rare for her to see the same image, but witnessing how Elyana's emotions burst out that day touched her heart.
Chelsea knew Elyana's story through Felicity. That was the same reason she was too eager to give her help.
"Oh my God!" Elyana exclaimed, covering her mouth to hide her shaking chin and letting the tears of joy from her eyes freely flow down to her cheeks.
"Congratulations! I know how fulfilling this is for you, but you must relax your heart and don't feel too pressured, okay?" Doctor Chelsea told her.
Elyana turned to her; tears were falling down her cheeks and her hands were both shaking. "Honestly, I don't know how to relax right now, doctor. Look, I'm trembling so much," she answered, showing her shaking hands.
"That's okay! Just relax. You can stay in the waiting area for some time until you are fully calmed. I can see you came all alone; where is Felicity?"
"He has important clients to meet; that's why he can't accompany me today," she lied.
"I see," Chelsea said. No more questions from her after.
She was prescribed vitamins and supplements that would help the baby become healthy. Elyana received advice on what should and should not be done because it will harm the baby.
"If you suddenly feel strange any day, call me or go to my clinic immediately if there's someone to drive for you."
"T-Thank you, doctor. Thank you also for advising me to do this. You did fulfill my dream of becoming a mom—" Elyana's voice broke, forcing her to pause.
"Maybe, but your donor did. He has a big role here, I just helped. So thanks to him mostly," Chelsea corrected.
"You're right, he has a big role. I should call him later to inform him about this."
"If that's needed, then do so. No one could resist the joy that a baby could bring. They can lie about it, but no one can prevent it." Chelsea stopped and thought.
"I'm just wondering if both of you have some agreements before this—in papers.
"We have. I want to face future problems; that's why I think ahead," Elyana answered.
"That's good to know," Chelsea responded, but there were things in her mind that she couldn't tell Elyana at that moment.
When Elyana was already outside, she told her assistant to don't let a patient come in yet. Chelsea took her phone to make a call and she called Felicity, who was not answering his phone.
She tried a few times before deciding to send a message. "We need to talk, Bakla. Call me when you get free," she sent.
Chelsea was about to put down her phone when she thought of sending something else to make sure Felicity would call her. "I know what you did and if you're not going to call me today, I will expose you and that will surely ruin your name, Bakla."
Felicity, who was in his office that day, saw the messages immediately. With his pounding chest and shaking hand, he returned the call to the doctor right away.
"I'm telling you now that you shouldn't do whatever you're thinking," he warned her.
"And why not? Have you ever thought of the result of what you did?" Chelsea asked him.
"I'm only doing them a favor. You don't know who Quintin is or what kind of man he is. Besides, Ellie is my best friend, and I know what's best for—"
"How silly! Elyana is a grown-up woman. She could decide for herself!"
Felicity rolled her eyes, massaging her temple using her free hand. He was panicking at that time and he didn't want to be exposed to what he did that day.
"You don't know too much, Chelsea. Just don't tell her what you know—-please?
"This could ruin me more than you. I would lose my license once Elyana found out and she decided to sue me, you dumb!"
"I know that girl, okay? I know it, but it doesn't mean I will let that happen. So calm down! Just chill your ass there!"
"You're so damn annoying. I will never forgive you once she sued me, you wicked witch!" Chelsea exclaimed.
That was loud, but a good thing the wall between the room where she was and the waiting area was soundproofed.
"I know I'm a witch. Duh!" Felicity paused because of something that made him curious. "By the way, what is the result?"
"Are you sure you want to know?" Chelsea asked.
"Girl! I'm not going to ask if I'm not, you silly."
"Why, have you ever prayed it was negative?"
"I-is it negative?" Felicity asked back. He already felt some relief at that moment thinking it was negative, but when Chelsea spoke again, Felicity froze in his seat.
