Chapter 51
I saw how Lucas's eyes widened after hearing my answer; however, his attention was diverted when Felicity walked in close to us. He was just in time to take me out of that place, and it seemed Lucas didn't like how my best friend approached us based on how he stared at him.
Lucas's eyes traveled through Felicity's from head to toe. It was not just a look—he was glaring at him like he was wondering why he was there, or it made him confused about whether the one standing was my best friend, whom he knew was gay.
Because honestly, without his makeup that day, anyone who saw him would certainly think he was straight. He left his fancy handbag inside the car, and he went walking in like he was a real man about to give a blow to the face.
Lucas grinned when he was satisfied. He rested his back on the chair and gave Felicity a judging glance. "Is he the reason why you couldn't come back to me, Ellie?"
The way he asked that question was truly insulting on my part. I knew he already knew who the person standing before him was, and he wanted to humiliate him around people as payment for the slap I gave.
I was about to answer to defend my best friend, but Felicity got ahead of me, and what shocked me the most—he changed his voice and turned it masculine, the same with his twin, Felix.
"And what if you're right?" Bakla asked Lucas, and Lucas was like a lunatic who suddenly laughed out loud.
I started to hear some whispers around, and I saw that as a cue to grab Felicity's arm. "Let's go now."
Lucas's expression became serious. He stood up and stepped closer to Felicity while asking, "Am I?"
Their faces were close to each other, and because they were both tall, their eyes were just on the same level.
"Why? Would you feel humiliated if you were right?" Felicity replied.
Lucas let out a short chuckle and looked around. "Come on. I know what your type is," he responded, and I held tight to Felicity's arm as a signal that we were only wasting our time; however, he didn't even move a bit.
I was getting worried already.
"Are you judging me because I'm gay?" Felicity asked firmly, but in my ears, it was more than a question.
"Let's go home," I begged that Lucas heard for him to give me a sharp look.
"I-Is it real, this gay is your new? He stays in the same house as you. Do you both stay in one room and sleep next to each other as well?" I could feel the tremor in Lucas's voice when he asked these questions.
I saw the pain in his eyes at that moment. I didn't expect he would give my word a different approach.
"W-we—-"
"Yes, we do!" Felicity interrupted. He didn't let me answer the question, which put us in a worse situation.
"We live in the same house, and whatever we do together is not your business anymore for Pete's sake, Lucas!" Felicity added.
Felicity couldn't hide his sass anymore, but his voice remained masculine and was too intimidating in my ears.
"Shut up! I'm asking her!" I was surprised by Lucas's sudden yelling, but I was even more surprised when Felicity pulled me behind him.
He tried to hide me from my now-furious ex-husband. Frankly, I felt safer behind him. He didn't let go of my wrist yet, and the warmth coming from his palm relaxed my mind even though there was an angry dragon who would burn us with so much fury he had on us.
"Get out of the way!" Lucas shouted. He pushed Felicity, but his strength was not enough to move my best friend away.
"If I didn't?" Felicity teased. I knew by the sound of his voice he was having fun already, but that was not the moment to have fun because he might get in trouble if Lucas suddenly berserk and started to break things.
'Well, he could pay, I know, but what if he hurt Felicity?'
"You piece of sh*t, let her answer!" Lucas pushed Felicity again, yet, like the first attempt, it didn't work.
I knew by then that it was time to leave. I tried pulling Felicity, but I couldn't. He was facing a man who could give him a blow, and it was getting more embarrassing because all the customers inside the restaurant were already looking at us.
"This is just between me and Elyana, so get out of the way."
"As far as I'm concerned, this is between us three. If we sleep next to each other, it means I am part of this now, so it's about us three, right?" Felicity retorted.
I didn't know what to do anymore. All I knew was that the more they exchanged words, the more we would get stuck in that place.
"Elyana, answer my question!" Lucas called out to me, but I didn't answer.
"E-excuse me, sir, if there is any problem here. Our customers are already bothered by what's happening here." I heard a woman tell them.
Finally, somebody came to stop them.
"We would settle this here, miss. I can pay all damages if there is, don't worry," Lucas arrogantly uttered, bringing an attitude in the Philippines and his thought that he could buy everything with their wealth.
I tried to put my mind at ease now that there was a different person around, but Felicity wasn't done yet.
"He's right, don't worry—he would pay for everything," he said, and later on added, "If you have an issue with my gender, go back to your parents and tell them to fix your defect because I may be gay inside and out, but at least I have balls."
There was silence after. I raised my head and saw Felicity leaning closer to Lucas, and it seemed he was whispering something to him.
I hadn't heard it yet, but whatever it was, it made Lucas freeze, and we finally had a chance to peacefully leave.
We were both inside the car and driving away when I went back to my senses. "What did you tell him, Bakla? I asked out of curiosity.
He didn't answer, and his eyes were fixed on the road like he hadn't heard anything.
"It seemed you made him angry. Are you not scared he will come back to you?" I continued, but still—no answer.
I knew he could hear me; he didn't just want to talk, but because I was concerned about what Lucas might do to him, I made sure he would realize how easy it is for Lucas to pay someone to ruin everything he worked on and enjoy it now.
"I just told him what he needs to hear, girl." He was back to his shrilly voice. He gave me a quick look and rolled his eyes at me with extreme irritation.
"For sure, that person is thinking that we are doing something whenever we sleep next to each other. By then, you had admitted that we have a relationship. Aren't you afraid?"
"Why should I be afraid? Your ex-husband is a coward, girl," he replied empathetically.
I frowned. I didn't know how to explain to him anymore that he would lose everything with what he did by helping me. "I know what he can do, and I'm afraid of whatever he would do to you," I replied.
"Come on, you have nothing to worry about. He was a coward for letting Diane blackmail him for a very long time. He let her use him just like that. Is that not enough to tell how cowardly he is?" I was stunned to hear all those from him.
There was a smile on his face, telling me how certain he was of that statement. However, those were things Lucas just told me, and I hadn't shared them with him yet, so why did he know about them?
"How did you know Diane blackmailed Lucas?" I saw how the smile on his lips faded. His eyes blinked a few times before answering my question.
"D-didn't you tell me?" he stammered, making me conclude he knew more than what I heard from Lucas.
"I didn't," I firmly answered. "Where did you get that information, and who told you about it?"
Our speed accelerated. Felicity was tense. I knew I caught him off-guard, but I needed answers.
"Answer my question, Bakla! Who the hell told you about those?" I exclaimed.
"O-okay, don't shout. I found out from Quinntin," he responded, but I wasn't satisfied.
He turned to look at me, and it seemed he saw that in my face for him to tell me everything he knew. I learned Lucas and Quintin talked a few days before Lucas flew to the country. He admitted that she knew what my ex-husband wanted for him to ask to see me.
I got hurt because it appeared they had set me up.
"It's not what you think it is," Felicity uttered after I went silent. "I thought it could help you. I knew how much you loved him before, and after hearing his side through Quintin, I realized he deserved another chance. I won't deny that it was heart-touching," he continued after some time.
"It didn't even help!" I shouted at him. The heaviness in my chest traveled fast, making my eyes cry after getting too disappointed with what Felicity and Quintin did.
"Hey, girl...don't cry, please," he pleaded, but it only triggered it more, and I cried loudly like a child after getting hurt so badly. I tried opening the car door, but it was locked.
"Open this!" I ordered angrily, but he didn't listen.
"You just healed your burns, girl. If you jumped out of this moving car, I am certain your face would need plastic surgeries after." I couldn't believe he still had the guts to make a joke out of me.
I would jump, but he was right, and I didn't want to end up like that annoying Diane who had so many plastic surgeries to look like who she wanted to be.
I felt so helpless. I covered my face with both my hands while sobbing on that seat and, for a moment, got away from him and everyone who hurt my feelings that day.
"There's something else you should know," Felicity uttered, but I wasn't interested anymore because I felt whatever he would say would only hurt me.
"He lied to you, girl. He lied about your infertility," he let out, and in a snap, I raised my head, and the sobs coming out of my mouth stopped.
"W-what did you say?" I asked him to repeat it.
"You were not the problem; it was him. He is impotent, not you," he revealed.
