Chapter 76
Third-person's POV
On his way to the clinic where Elyana could be taken, he received a message from Dr. Chelsea.
"What did you do, Bakla? Elyana is here at the clinic right now unconscious!" She was mad at him after finding out he was the last in her company before she felt severe pain.
He did not reply to the doctor. He went to the clinic with a worried expression on his face. After parking the car, he jumped out and dashed to the clinic.
Strands of his long hair on a ponytail were all over the place, but the matchmaker didn't care how he looked because his mind was more messy than his appearance that day.
He wouldn't forgive himself if something bad happened to Elyana and the baby. His mother would surely hurt him once she found out.
The front desk secretary was expecting his arrival, so she did not ask what the matchmaker needed when she saw him walk in. She led him to a room where Elyana was resting and left him right after.
Elyana was awake when he arrived, but was extremely pale.
"W-what happened?" he worriedly asked as he got closer to her.
"Nothing… just spotting," Elyana responded, unable to look straight at Felicity because of unexplainable shame.
Felicity breathed a sigh of relief when he heard what she said. He thought something bad had happened to his child that day, but thankfully there wasn't.
"Thank you God you're okay, but you should still be cautious, you know," he told her and Elyana nodded in response to that.
"Why do you look paler than Miss Elyana, Ma'am Felicity?" Felicity didn't notice that the talkative servant was there.
"Well, I must have been nervous as well," he snarled at her. The silly servant couldn't contain her laughter. It seemed the matchmaker before them was a different person because of how haggard he looked.
While Daldalita made fun of him, the doctor arrived. She smiled and walked near her patient after giving Felicity a quick sharp gaze. That was a hint of a threat. Felicity suddenly felt frightened for the first time after seeing the doctor.
"How are you feeling now?" Chelsea asked Elyana.
"There's a twitching pain right here," Elyana answered, placing her hand on the part she was referring to show the doctor.
"That will disappear later with the medicine I gave you. You better rest a little and stop giving yourself a hard time. Don't surround yourself with something or think about something that could stress you," Chelsea advised while looking at Felicity from time to time with his glaring eyes.
The doctor couldn't stop herself from sneering at him, which the others who were there couldn't see. Felicity felt attacked, but she didn't say anything even though he tried to answer and the doctor knew that that was why she deliberately annoyed him.
However, the doctor had no such plans. She barely let out the tip of his tongue leaving to tease the helpless matchmaker.
'You will have a day,' Felicity whispered while looking at the bully doctor.
There was a moment of silence in the room when the doctor came out and that silence only broke down when Elyana spoke, "I thought you were going somewhere?"
Felicity looked up as he was deep in thought at the time. He remained standing next to the bed where Elyana was lying down and couldn't say a word.
"I-I canceled it," he quickly answered. Elyana wasn't surprised at all.
When Felicity told her that he had a meeting that day, she had a strong feeling he was just making excuses. Just like before, when he was still trying to avoid her.
"Don't you have somewhere else to go? I'm fine now and Daldalita is here, I'll have someone when you leave," she said to shoo Felicity away, which surprised the matchmaker a bit.
"Nothing now. I can stay—"
"No, you can go," Elyana interrupted. Felicity was quite perplexed with the way she wanted him to leave. "We'll be going home soon anyway," she added. The emphasis on Elyana's pronunciation of words was noticeable and that made Felicity conclude that Elyana was mad at him.
The scene was so awkward that Daldalita felt she was only watching a live drama. She was scared it would cause more stress to her boss if she got angry. She wanted to go in between them, but she was frightened.
Felicity's shoulders moved up and down, caught by Daldalita's eyes. She thought Felicity was about to raise his voice but his voice was softer and not as shrill as his normal way of speaking.
"I'll stay. Don't be naughty. Not good for you and your baby," he said and he finally moved to the side to take a seat.
She was aware of the severe mood swings that come with pregnancy, but she was not aware that there was a way to calm the mind of a stressed-out soon-to-be mother like her.
Felicity did accompany her there until the doctor told them she could go home. Elyana was in a different vehicle and Felicity was following them.
While on the road, Elyana was peeking in the side mirror and had a strange nervousness that the yellow car would make a different turn and would eventually disappear in her sight.
Luckily, Felicity didn't fail her at that moment. He followed them back to the mansion and Felicity stayed with her until the night.
When Elyana could feel that Felicity might leave anytime soon she spoke to him, "Can you stay here for the night, Bakla? I'm just afraid that what you said earlier might come true."
"I don't have clothes here," Felicity used as an excuse, yet, Elyana was persistent in convincing her best friend to stay for the night.
"There are clothes in the guest room you can wear. I know some would fit you," she answered.
The matchmaker thought for a second. There was no case he would be sleeping next to her because the mansion had a bunch of rooms he could use.
He didn't want the same awkwardness he felt in the morning to happen again although he wanted to grant Elyana's request so that she wouldn't be stressing herself again.
He agreed without knowing that Elyana had a different plan for the night.
While Felicity was in the bathroom, Elyana entered the guest room. He brought two extra pillows and was wearing her typical nightgown whenever she slept. She lay down on the bed and waited for Felicity to come out.
When the matchmaker finished taking a bath, he almost screamed when he saw someone lying on the bed with a white face because of the night cream she applied, including the light was dim at that time which added more horror.
"Oh my God, Ellie!" he snorted. He held his chest with one hand because his heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
"Sorry…" she apologized.
"W-why are you here? Don't tell me you're going to sleep here?"
"The bed is spacious. I could sleep on one side and you on the other." Elyana gestured her hand to show him which side she would take.
"For real?" The matchmaker couldn't believe her. He turned away to look for clothes to wear in the closet. That scenario was what he was drastically trying to avoid, but it seemed the saying was true, you attract what you fear.
"Hey, there's no pajamas here," he announced right after checking all the clothes hung and all the drawers.
"I have many in the room. Just find one that fits you," Elyana said while finding a comfortable position to sleep on the bed
"You're going to let me out like this?"
"So? No one will see. They're already sleeping downstairs." Elyana's eyes were already shut when she said this.
Felicity couldn't do anything but go to the other room wearing only a robe. Although Elyana was right, no one saw her.
He found something to wear. There was underwear in the guest room so he had no problem. He was also wearing something when he came out of there so nothing was dangling down there.
But the silk pair of pajamas was a bit tight for his body size, but he could manage.
He returned to the guest room and was ready to tell Elyana to go to her room, but when he arrived, she was already asleep and snoring while hugging a pillow.
Elyana was almost right in the middle of the large bed, but there was enough space for someone else to sleep. He wanted to wake her up, but remembering the tiring day that day, he stopped himself.
He lay down on the side and put a pillow between them. For the first in his life, he suddenly became afraid to get close to her best friend. He didn't want to receive the same hug he could get from her before or sleep next to her that before had no malice. He didn't know what had gotten to his mind to feel strange around his pregnant best friend, but he knew it wasn't good.
He tried to sleep but Elyana was constantly tossing and turning. He just turned to the other side and turned his back on Elyana, but after a while, the person next to him moved again and he felt the heat of his breath at the back of his head.
That sent shivers all over his body. He sat down immediately to brush off that feeling. He knew he couldn't sleep near her and he had no choice, but to be on the couch.
